There are plenty of restaurants in this area. Try somewhere else. We had a vastly different experience at Cadillac Ranch the night before and the food was by and far better. Spend your time and money elsewhere.
I really wanted to at least give 3 stars, but I have to give 2. I have been here 3 times, 2 for dinner and one for brunch. Each time I tried to give another chance. All three times the food just OK at best and service lacked. The brunch food was really not good, especially compared to so many other brunches in the DMV...Granite City just does not measure up...in my opinion.
Mediocre food. Seated in segregated area with screaming children - when tables were available on the main floor. So many better places to choose from at National Harbor!
The manager never came by our table after the seating issue to see if things were going better. We were not given anything for our troubles, nor did we ask, but he completely avoided our table the entire time we were sitting. I have managed restaurants before and even though it may be uncomfortable, as a manager, you need to stop by the table and make sure the experience is better for the guest. But that did not happen here.
The food here was amazing, the service was way above par and the prices were great for the portion sizes. When I visit again, I will definately plan to eat here again. Major kudos to the owner and management staff. Cheers!
We were very disappointed with our experience here at Granite City. We made a reservation for a group of 8 at 8:00 pm this past Saturday. We arrived early and checked in with the host at 7:40 pm. We were told that the person who made our reservation would receive a text closer to 8:00 pm and we would be seated then. Immediately after I walked away from the host, another group came in. This time a group of 12 with no reservations and they were told it would be a 45 minute wait. In the meantime, our group went to the bar to wait. Around 8:00 pm, we saw an 8 top table being cleaned off and expect the text for our table shortly. However, the group of 12 was taken back to that table...which had been cleaned and set for 8. We waited a few minutes to see if there was another table being prepared for our group. There was not. It was now after 8:00 pm. My husband approached the host stand and asked how much longer and was told they were working on it. We waited a few more minutes before I then stopped the host and asked when we would be seated and he stated they didn't have anything open for us and they were working with what was open on the floor. I asked what the point of having a reservation was then? The host was unable to give a good answer. At this point, it was already 10 minutes past our reservation time and we have been in the restaurant a total of 30 minutes. We had 2 pregnant women in our group who not only needed to sit, but eat. Finally a manager was flagged down and told that we had arrived before the party of 12 who did not have reservations, yet they were given a table first. At around 8:15 we were finally shown to a table.
Great restaurant with tons of potential. The menu was great. Everything was good up until the service. It took a while for us to receive our food. Then my meal came in wrong. Never got a water refill. She never came back around to give us the check until we waved her down. I'll be interested in returning if the staff gets trained better.
The food did little to improve things. It was mediocre at best. I ordered the shrimp tacos and couldn't even pick them up because the tortillas fell completely apart. Our server brought me three new ones but they were cold and inedible. Another member of our party got sick upon returning back to our room.
However, it did not get much better at the table. We waited another 10 minutes for menus and silverware. A member of our party had to go ask for menus because when they finally did arrive, we were given 2. Our server greeted us after we had been sitting for 15 minutes and it took another 15 to get the drinks from the bar. Our server was Quaniece. She was very pleasant and friendly and did her best given the situation but by this point many of us very annoyed and the experience could not be redeemed. The situation was by no means her fault. She was the single positive about the evening.
